One Story in the Friday Afternoon

8 Jun

I am in Bandung, spending a couple of days with family, with my brother and sister and their family — of course, including my nieces —

Once Friday afternoon, I was chatting with my 5-year-old niece, Chloe. I asked her, “Are you going to school tomorrow, on Saturday?”

“Err, I don’t know. Ask Mba Mar.. “ In fact, Mba Mar is her baby sitter.

“Why don’t you know? I mean, do you go to school usually, on Saturday?”

” I don’t know. Mba Mar knows..”

Suddenly I just realize that I am talking to 5-year-old girl. So I decided to ask a more simple question.

“So, do you know what today is?”

She shoke her head.

“Ah, I see..”

I mean my last sentence. Ah, I see..
Their life is not that simple. Our life is not simple either. But they think simple, while we don’t.

The children and we have the same pattern of life. We both live the routine, just do what our schedule tell us to. We wake up, we take a bath, we go to work (while my niece go to school). We do that because the weekdays tell us to, they do that because their teacher tells them to. No difference, right?

They might experience the same activity with us. Going to school which they don’t like to do. We go to the office which we dont look forward to. But actually, the big difference exist.

They simply just do it, without being grumpy, pass day by day without complaining. (At least, their parents will tell them why they need to do it: for their own sake). So they just enjoy it and be thankful for what it comes.

So, there is no reason for being not happy. If we are not gonna change the way we live, we just simply have to stick with it. No complain, be happy, see how the children do it. 🙂
